BJ’s Wholesale Club is a Massachusetts-based wholesaler with 252 locations, in over 230 cities across 20 states and territories.
Everything Bagels
It started with the idea that you can find nearly everything at BJ’s Wholesale. Everything from bagels and other grocery items to electronics and other home goods.
As part of the Absurdly Simple Savings campaign, the goal was to highlight the wide variety of products that BJ’s features in an absurd and fun way.
My role in this project was as the primary animator. I took the provided art direction and storyboarding and wove animated product shots with a copy to produce a visually interesting advertisement. This project underwent numerous revisions with many versions that did not make the final product. This project highlighted my ability to animate and respond quickly and efficiently to feedback.
This ad ran during the 2023 Thanksgiving holiday season in Times Square.
Below are examples of alternative endings to the sequence. While we only had a few seconds, we were encouraged to develop different playful endings. We tweaked everything from the elements in the animation to the background colors to try and make the ad stand out in such a vibrant space like Times Square. We couldn’t use them all, it was fun to keep pitching different ways of ending the ad.
