BJ’s Wholesale Club

BJ’s Wholesale Club is a Massachusetts-based wholesaler with 252 locations, in over 230 cities across 20 states and territories. Below are a variety of projects that I have worked on during my time with BJ’s Wholesale. You can view additional work I did for their Times Square Billboard here.

BJ’s 40th Anniversary

As part of the 40th Anniversary team, I was tasked to develop a logo that would draw attention to the milestone being celebrated by the company and reflect the era in which they were founded; 1984.

We started by looking at everything from popular music and movies at the time, to the iconic themes and styles that defined the 80s. We started simple and eventually ran with fun crazy colors, and experimented with secondary typefaces.

We were asked to give multiple options for each logo including an 80s version with full color and themed treatment, a corporate version with the 80s treatment, a stripped-down version with the newer colors, and a standard version.

Logo variations showing off the different options for one logo.

Renders of the logo on different items, highlighting the variation of color that can be used.

Previous rounds / unused concepts. We came up with hundreds of options, and here is a small sample of creative.

Animation

Having familiarity with animation, BJ’s had me create pieces for different applications. Here are some examples of email and social assets created for various promotions.
